AREDS 2 participants who took lutein and zeaxanthin and no beta-carotene along with vitamin C, zinc and copper improved their risk of supporting a healthy macula.

Viteyes uses 25 mg of daily zinc, which was found to not be significantly less effective and had fewer side effects when compared with 80 mg zinc.
